How to Build a Chicken House
First, you must ask yourself: “Will these be pet chickens or livestock chickens?” In my case it has been a bit of both. This means I look forward to their eggs (we have laying hens and no roosters) but will not dispatch them when they stop laying them. It also means I have spent more money on their chicken house than would make sense if this were purely an economic enterprise. But it brings me joy to make them happy, to give them a safe and (relatively) warm place to live. And when the eggs arrive, then I don’t feel as bad about all the money I’ve spent on them…

Living in the Woods
Living in the woods is wonderful, it’s literally one of the best places on Earth. Camping is grand and all, but who needs to sleep in a tent when you already live in the forest and can just sleep in your own bed. You can also make waffles for breakfast, and use a real bathroom, and stay warm by the wood stove when it’s cold. Cities may have society and culture, but they don’t have natural magnificence. We’ve lived her for three years now. Well, two of us have, my wife and I. Our daughter has only lived her about two years because that’s how long she’s lived on Earth.…
